At 9 years old, I was blissfully playing with friends, when I first heard a harp. I was immediately fascinated! For the next several years you could hear me trying to bargain with my mom about my piano lessons. "I would not complain about practicing if you let me play the harp!"
It took 6 years before my mother tracked down the lovely Dulcie Barlow in NYC after our recent move to Brooklyn. In the mean time I had suffered major trauma with my hands needing two plastic surgeries. She was a gentle and gracious teacher that helped me go beyond my physical therapy needs. Dulcie excitedly helped me purchase my vintage 1940's Lyon & Healy Style 22 Gold from the son of the late Broadway harpist Nina Dunkel.
At 17 years old, I had a custom lever harp made for me by Hidden Valley Harps with Psalms 33:2 inscribed on it. "Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to Him on the ten-string lyre". This is my heart's mission.
